South Africa make one change for Rugby World Cup opener against New Zealand

South Africa coach Rassie Erasmus made one change in the starting XV that brought New Zealand in July when he called his team with the reigning champions.
Siya Kolisi, that missed the 16-16 Wellington draw because of injury, will captain the side instead of Kwagga Smith in openside flanker to make an imposing row that is back with number eight Duane Vermeulen and blindside Pieter Steph du Toit.
Otherwise, Erasmus has stuck with the side that played with the All Blacks to get a match that’s likely to determine who wins Pool B and enjoys the potentially easier path through to the final.
The matchday squad to its Yokohama battle was identical to the one Erasmus set out in Kumagaya this season that month that kept the Springboks unbeaten for its 41-7 victory over Japan.
«We’ve discovered some consistency and some momentum in a number of ways this year and one of them is in selection,» Erasmus said.
«We have 31 players from the squad, any of whom I would be delighted to pick… but this really is a line-up that has functioned well as a starting combination and one with genuine momentum to come from the seat.
«We are continuing to develop new players are always pushing a promise but we have prepared well and we are looking ahead to what will likely be another extremely close game.»
Prop Trevor Nyakane retained his position on the seat while Cheslin Kolbe held on his position on the wing.
There was no place for Smith or Nkosi with Francois Louw covering the row and Jesse Kriel three, around the seat.
The versatile 32-year-old Frans Steyn behave as back-up to beginning flyhalf Handre Pollard, together with Elton Jantjies missing out altogether despite beginning tests against Australia and Argentina in the number 10 shirt this year and will insure the centers.
